A Preview of the ISA Expo
Continuing our International Sign Association (ISA) International Sign Expo preview from the March issue, here we include background information on additional vendors exhibiting at the show. ISA’s expo takes place April 24, to 26, 2014, in Orlando, FL at the Orange County Convention Center. The three day event promises to offer education, networking, and more. 3M Commercial Graphics, booth 220, exhibits 3M Scotchcal Perforated Window Film IJ67. It is a removable film designed for short-term promotional first surface window applications. The vinyl film features a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a 40 percent die-perforated pattern that allows a full image to be seen on the outside of a window, while allowing viewing through retail and non-regulated vehicle windows from the inside.

Argotec LLC, booth 2817, showcases its new ArgoGraph Two-Part TPU Graphic Films System, which won SGIA’s Product of the Year award in the Non-PVC Media for Digital Inkjet category. Part One is ArgoGraph-WHITE, a new, printable polyurethane (TPU) graphic film ideally suited for demanding outdoor applications. Part Two is ArgoGraph-CLEAR, a protective TPU overlaminate facestock designed to be applied over ArgoGraph-WHITE or other printed substrates to protect underlying graphics.
Arlon Graphics, booth 2137, features Ultimate PremiumPlus Films in over 60 colors, textures, and finishes used for automotive restyling and interior décor as well as its full line of digital print backlit films including translucent, flex, and clear. Avery Dennison, booth 655, highlights its popular Supreme Wrapping Film line with 78 opaque cast films in gloss, matte, and brushed metallic; matte; pearlescent; carbon fiber; conform chrome; and satin colors that are ideal for interior and exterior accents for vehicles, point of purchase signage, and architectural installations. Black, white, white pearlescent, carmine red, and bubblegum pink satin films were recently added to the portfolio. Several new colors are unveiled at ISA.
Bordeaux Digital Printink, booth 1373, highlights its range of inks and coatings for almost every inkjet technology and application including inks designed for Roland Pro4 and Epson SureColor printers, compatible with OEM; UV/UV LED; dye digital ink for sublimation and direct printing; eco/mild/true solvent ink, including Mix & Match ink; and UV coatings and liquid laminates.
Budget Inks, booth 946, offers replacement inks for Roland Eco Sol Maxx and Eco Solvent 2; Hewlett-Packard (HP) Designjet printers, HP L26500, HP L25500, HP 9000 to 10000, HP Z6100, HP 5000 to 5500; plus Epson GS 6000; Seiko; Mutoh; and Mimaki. The company’s digital inks match OEM color, offer cartridge compatibility, and provide long-term durability.
Caldera, booths 537 and 308, promotes WebShop, a full-featured solution that allows print service providers the freedom to customize their online store. The SaaS product can be integrated with Caldera’s Flow+ and RIP solutions to provide a complete sales-to-production system. Highlights include the ability to create multiple shops with different products and prices for customers or markets, and various product categorization features.
Canon Solutions America (CSA), booth 2702, demonstrates the latest and greatest Océ brand printers including the Océ Arizona UV flatbed printers with image quality and application versatility and the Océ ColorWave 900 color printer for high-speed color printing up to 12,000 square feet per hour. Clear Focus Imaging, Inc., booth 1909, introduces EconoVue Clear Interior 60/40 perforated window film with a PET liner for producing second-surface window graphics using UV-curable and other inks. Also on display is EasyCling, an unperforated clear polyester film for printing with UV digital, screen, and latex inks.
Colex Imaging, booth 2459, is an industry leader in wide format finishing solutions. It manufactures the Sharpcut Flatbed Cutter. Colex is the exclusive dealer in North America for Fotoba X/Y Cutters. At the show, it previews the new XLD-170WP Wall Paper Cutter & Rewinder, an ideal solution for cutting tiles of wall paper with high accuracy to enable butt joint wall application.
Component Signage, Inc. (CSI), booth 1565, manufactures aluminum architectural sign systems to the trade, ranging from posts and panels, flat panels, light boxes, monuments, pylons, and illuminated signs. CSI offers highly competitive pricing, quick turnaround time, and excellent customer service.
Cyrious Software, booth 2273, demonstrates Cyrious Online, a Web system that lets sign and graphics companies create customized storefronts for each large customer. Customers can build their own graphics or modify templates via the online designer and place orders directly. Cyrious Online is on the cloud and runs on all major browsers.
D&K Group, booth 272, launches the new EXP 55 Wide Format Laminator. The EXP 55 is designed for applications including mounting to substrates up to 1/2-inch thick and roll-to-roll lamination of pressure-sensitive vinyl. The EXP 55 features a working width of 54 inches with a top heated roller that operates up to 300F for laminating and mounting applications of all types.
Durst Image Technology US, booth 1859, is a world-class manufacturer of digital UV inkjet printing solutions built for performance, efficiency, and reliability. Durst features today’s leading Rho UV inkjet technology for both roll and rigid applications. Eastsign, booth 1749, shows the latest printer/cutter EBP-400. The printer on the exhibit floor is 15 inches or 400 millimeters wide. It is the smallest printer which Eastsign has ever launched in the market. 23 inches or 600 millimeters wide is also available, which is known as EBP-23. The machine is equipped with one Dx5 printhead. The maximum resolution is up to 1,440 dpi. Maximum cutting speed is 12 inches.
Edward Segal Inc., booth 2747, displays solutions that make the installation of grommets easier. Specifically, the 3P5 Portable Pneumatic Press is a popular tool to install grommets in vinyl, webbing, and Coroplast. The 3P5 is an upgrade to a hand press, as the pneumatic power eliminates all the physical force required of a hand press.
EFI, booth 1812, features its portfolio of UV inkjet printers and production workflow solutions. EFI’s exhibit includes EFI VUTEk printers, including models featuring LED cool cure technology. Visitors also see how to make better display decisions using the EFI SmartSign Analytics viewership data system. Plus, EFI shows advancements in signage production workflow using EFI Fiery digital front end products, and EFI MIS/ERP and Web to print software.
Epson, booth 519, showcases its leading printing technology, including the new Epson SureColor F7170 64-inch dye-sublimation printer with true roll-to-roll support for unprecedented levels of performance, reliability, and image quality for the fabric production and soft signage markets. Epson also shows the SureColor F2000 series direct-to-garment inkjet printers, the SureColor S-Series 64-inch solvent printers, and the SureColor T-Series technical color plotters.
GBC, booth 1025, advocates that performance doesn’t have to be expensive. At the show view the Spire III 64Ct 64-inch cold with top heat assist laminator and the Spire III 44T 44-inch thermal laminator. All-steel construction and features including swing up feed tables, speeds up to 20 feet per minute, roll-to-roll capabilities, and a two-inch mounting gap make Spire wide format laminators a low-cost, high-productivity solution for operators at any skill level and with any application needs.
General Formulations Inc., booth 703, announces the addition of three new colors of carbon fiber films—780 Black, 781 Argent, and 782 White. These 5.6-mil calendered films are for partial wraps and accents with a 90# air egress liner for easy application, providing exceptional performance and value. The films are available at 60- and 30-inch widths and utilize the same adhesive system as Automark wrap film.

HP features the HP Latex 3000 Printer, offering high-volume sign and display printers consistent image quality at high speeds, as well as the HP Designjet Z5400 ePrinter, the first multi-roll, large format ePrinter for copy shops and quick printers.
Hexis, booths 2553 and 2753, launches HX190WG2 digital vinyl for large format solvent, eco-solvent, and latex inkjet printers. HX190WG2 is a 2-mil layered cast vinyl and because of its particular formulation is more versatile and tolerant with regard to the imperfections of different print systems. The layered structure ensures that ink will not affect the adhesive properties and maintains the excellent handling properties of the film. The media offers a wider compatibility with operable printers, in particular hard solvent inkjet systems.

Mimaki USA, Inc., booth 1473, shows a variety of flatbed and roll-based printers for the sign and graphics, textile and apparel, and industrial printing markets. Featured at ISA 2014 is the Mimaki JFX200-2513 LED UV-cure flatbed printer that can print up to 269 square feet per hour. The flatbed table accommodates standard 4x8-foot boards and prints on rigid media up to two inches thick. Layout pins ensure easy media set up. White and spot inks are available.
MTL Print, booth 1487, promotes its NURStar wide format digital flatbeds. Zünd America, Inc., booth 127, adds a high-performance electric oscillating tool to its arsenal of cutting/routing options. The EOT250 features a 2.5-millimeter stroke and oscillates at high frequencies, processing a range of thick, tough, multilayered/cored materials at full speed. Another highlight is the Zünd Tandem Vacuum, a semi-automated pendulum workflow in which loading/unloading boards and sheeted materials occurs on alternating sides of the machine.
