Insight on SGIA

Educational Innovations

The Specialty Graphics Association (SGIA) hosts its annual trade show at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta, GA and anticipates over 15,000 attendees this year. With more than 46 new exhibitors, the expo offers the largest array ever of digital imaging, screenprinting, pad printing, finishing, and embroidery feats. Navigating the show floor is a daunting task, we hope the following attraction, product, and seminar previews help plan your schedule.

Off the Show Floor
The Golden Image/André Schellenberg Awards celebrate excellence. This contest covers almost every item—no matter how complex—created through the specialty graphic imaging process. Enter your favorite print in the contest. Every entrant is considered for Best in Show—screenprinting, Best in Show—digital imaging, and Best in Creativity—digital imaging.

This year, SGIA partnered with the Professional Decal Application Association (PDAA) to feature WrapQuest ‘08, providing the opportunity to observe the best techniques and practices for flawless wrap jobs. WrapQuest ‘08 includes vehicle wrap demonstrations by top installers. PDAA Master Certified installers will use vehicle wrapping films from Arlon, Inc., Avery Dennison Graphics & Reflective Products Divison, LG Chem, MACtac Graphic Products, and Oracal USA. After each demonstration, WrapQuest participants can ask questions and tryout these manufacturers’ films on different vehicles. Each participant of WrapQuest ‘08 is able to attend five demonstrations—one for each of the film manufacturers.

At SGIA’s Interior Design Display witness industry experts’ abilities to create wallpaper, pillows, tabletops, and more with digital printing.

Interior design isn’t the only hot digital niche, apparel is also gaining in popularity. See the latest technologies and applications at SGIA’s sales free Digital Apparel Production Zone. Talk with digital decoration experts about direct to garment, dye-sublimation, rhinestones, and other digital garment applications.
