The industry is getting excited about this Fall’s Graph Expo graphic communications exhibition and conference, taking place September 9-12 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. Explore an array of equipment and services for wide format output in the Wide Format Pavillion. We have provided an overview of what just a few exhibitors will feature. Digital Output is a Wide Format Pavillion sponsor this year. If you attend the show, please stop by booth 5642 to visit us.

Canon U.S.A., Inc., booth 2400, showcases the new imagePROGRAF large format printers—the imagePROGRAF iPF6100 and iPF5100—as well as the newest imageRUNNER models, including the Color imageRUNNER C5185. Canon is on hand to discuss its new and emerging technologies in the digital color and B&W production market and how Canon and its dealers can provide the right tools and technologies to grow businesses and drive profitability for print providers.

EFI, booth 3000, exhibits its award winning VUTEk QS3200 UV-curing digital inkjet printer. The QS3200 delivers an unmatched combination of High-Definition print quality and high production speeds—both critical success factors for superwide format print shops and commercial printers wishing to enter the superwide format market. The ability to change between rigid and flexible substrates in under a minute to produce output up to 900 square feet or up to 22, 4x8-foot boards per hour enables shops to meet demanding turn around times.

EFI’s Fiery XF RIP is featured with VUTEk superwide format printers. The Fiery XF provides a powerful production solution for today’s higher volumes and tight turn around times. Its advanced user interface comes with production features that simplify work processes and includes nesting, step and repeat, tiling, job monitoring, and proofing functionality.

Epson, booth 4429, debuts new additions to it’s Pro Imaging line with the introduction of the Epson Stylus 4880, 7880, 9880, and 64-inch Epson Stylus Pro 11800. All four printers feature Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink. The Epson Stylus Pro 11800, the company’s first 64-inch printer, features a brand new print head. It has 360 nozzles per channel and can achieve resolution levels up to 2880x1440 dpi with variable-sized ink droplets as small as 3.5 picoliters. Featuring an even higher level of ink droplet accuracy, the MicroPiezo TFP print head features a new ink repelling coating technology to dramatically reduce nozzle clogging. Combined with Epson’s new AccuPhoto HD screening technology at an astonishing resolution of 2880x1440 dpi, Epson has once again raised the bar for professional image quality.

FujiFilm, booth 4406, exhibits Fujifilm Vybrant Series solvent printers. As its name implies, the Fujifilm Vybrant series of solvent printers provide bright, vibrant color and rapid production speeds, making them some of the most reliable roll-to-roll solutions available on the market today.

The Vybrant series of roll-to-roll printers are fully motorized in order to maximize productivity. The heavy-duty media unwinding/winding system is capable of handling materials in excess of 300 pounds for hours of trouble-free, unattended printing. The automatic head height adjustment feature means the Vybrant is compatible with a variety of substrates, ranging from 2.5 mm up to 4.5 mm in thickness. In addition, variable pressure rollers accept a wide range of flexible media, up to 10 feet wide.

Gandinnovations, booth 4474, showcases three of its fastest selling Jeti grand format printers.

Among the printers is an enhanced version of the Jeti 3150 UV flatbed with 48 Spectra print heads demonstrating the fastest output from a flatbed printer at the show. A true flatbed table using linear motion to control movement ensures perfect registration on rigid and flexible materials. A strong sectional vacuum table holds virtually any rigid material in place up to 2 inches in thickness. The white ink, clear varnish, and CMYK option provides even more versatility.

Also on display is the Jeti 1224, a compact and economical flatbed specifically designed to give print shops the versatility they desire. The Jeti 1224 UV True Flatbed uses 24 Spectra print heads to produce high speed graphics in 6 color. Easy loading and unloading of large and heavy material can be performed by one person with the 4x8-foot print area.

Hewlett-Packard, booth 1229, displays the 8-color pigment ink HP Designjet Z6100 Printer series. Available in 42- and 60-inch models, it can print over 1,000 square feet per hour. It also features new HP Double Swath Technology, the first-ever Optical Media Advance Sensor, and an embedded X-Rite i1 spectrophotometer.

Also on display is the HP Indigo press 5500. Designed for the production of marketing collateral, direct mail, photo specialty products, books, and manuals, the HP Indigo press 5500 delivers the offset look and feel afforded by HP Indigo technology and liquid HP ElectroInk.

HumanEyes Technologies demonstrates its latest software for 3D and lenticular production at numerous partner booths throughout the show, including HP’s booth 1229; Gandinnovations’ booth 4474; Fujifilm Graphic Systems’ booths 4381and 4480; and Océ’s booth 4463.

HumanEyes provides end-to-end solutions for easy content creation, design, and production of printed lenticular and 3D projects enabling wide format printers to create printable 3D, flips, and animated images. These solutions give wide format printers the opportunity to incorporate 3D and lenticular printing services into their portfolio as unique, added-value services and as a strong point of differentiation. 3D and lenticular images give an astounding first impression and are proven to provide true, lasting power for promotional messages.

KAPCO Graphic Products, booth 5170, exhibits its new Solvent Specialty PVC Banner/Wallcovering—great for indoor and short term outdoor promotional advertising and point-of-purchase banners when a unique textured appearance is needed. Its special backing is designed for Type I and II commercial grade wallcovering applications. Unlike many other PVC substrates this material is mold and mildew resistant and meets or exceeds smoke certification and fire testing. Compatible with most OEM and mild solvent inks and printers, the Specialty PVC Banner/Wallcovering is wound PSO and available in widths of 30-, 54-, and 60-inch by 75-foot rolls. Choose from three texture finishes—Leather, Canvas, and Plaster.
