Colter & Peterson’s Microcut Systems
With the endorsement power of more than 30,000 worldwide installations, Microcut/Colter & Peterson (www.papercutters.com) already figured to attract a
crowd at IPEX (Stand N4-D322) with the highly successful Microcut® automated backgauge control system for paper cutters.
But with the introduction of two new systems while demonstrating two proven and reliable programs, show attendees not familiar with North America’s
largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment will quickly realize there is a solution for every finishing situation. C&P
will debut the new Microcut® COLOR WS and Microtrack II at the London show, which runs from March 24-29.
Those two highly anticipated additions will be joined by Microcut PLUS WS and Microcut JR. Given the various strengths of each system, IPEX visitors
will have choices in determining what best fits their operation.
“It’s a perfect blend of new packages being added to a very successful product line that can improve productivity by as much as 50%,” says Bruce
Peterson, President of Colter & Peterson. Located 10 miles from New York City, the family owned company opened for business 84 years ago and
has expanded operations from coast-to-coast with offices in five states.
“Microcut has many benefits that work very well for our customers,” remarked Peterson. “First, its value is tremendous because it costs a fraction of what
you would pay for a new paper cutter. Microcut is extremely flexible and can be adapted to any brand of paper cutter between 20-150 inches, including
our Prism® and Saber® lines. It’s also automated and there are many older machines in the marketplace that currently are not programmable.”
Peterson explained that each Microcut system memorizes the cutting sequences instantly. This allows the backgauge to automatically position itself to deliver
a precise cut within 1/64 of an inch. The new Microcut COLOR WS will guide the correct position movement faster and more accurately using a
computer guidance system. An 8” wide format touch screen display will help the operator enjoy fast and simple set-up.
The new Microtrack II is a digital display and programming guide that increases the accuracy and productivity of manually operated paper-cutters.
Manual, Program and Automatic options provide a visual alert to make the operator aware of when the backgauge is properly positioned.
“The Microtrack II system is very cost effective and uses a microprocessor based unit,” commented Peterson. “Some of the feedback we have
received indicates people will like the changes we have made. This includes the digital read out displays, the easy conversion from centimeters and
millimeters or inches, the more modern and updated look, and especially how user-friendly and intuitive these systems are for operators. When you
combine the improvements with the jump in production and labor savings, these systems pay for themselves very quickly.”
Colter & Peterson will demonstrate Microcut PLUS WS in the stand using a POLAR paper cutter. This system offers a 12” wide format touch screen and
the new microcip® and microfacts® features. It also allows programs to be uploaded from a network connection with a USB device using 3/4 files, and
no additional hardware or software is necessary.
Microcut JR is ideal for small shops using paper cutters up to 37” in size. Advanced programming options include label and sheet divide, allowing
complicated jobs to be programmed with only a few data entries.
