xpedx Helping Hundreds of Print Professionals at Wide Format Summits
xpedx, a leading business-to-business distribution company in North America, has worked with more than 350 printers through the first seven stops of the
14-city Wide Format Solutions Summit tour. The Summits, which provide printers with tools for succeeding in wide format printing, will continue in
seven additional cities from July through September (revised schedule below).
“We’ve seen a number of local printers who are eager to enter or expand in this growing segment in our industry, and these Summits provide the
opportunity for us to work with them to achieve success,” said Dennis Killion, xpedx Director, Marketing-Graphics. “The first seven Summits were
extremely well-received and we look forward to sharing our wide format expertise with many more printers over the next few months.”
Each Summit features strategic industry knowledge to help printers maximize profits in this growing segment. First, InfoTrends, a print technology strategy
and consulting firm, shares wide format insight and advice. Next, xpedx’s print team leads a discussion about wide format technology. Then, guests at
each show have an opportunity to view demonstrations on the latest equipment, media and substrates.
“We recently jumped into the wide format business because of customer demand, but we needed more education to be successful as we entered this
new space,” said Rick Autzen, COO of SpringDot and a guest at the Cincinnati Summit in June. “With the help of xpedx, my team learned about the
market opportunities and the substrates that are available. I would recommend these Summits to anyone looking to enter the wide format industry.”

xpedx and Agfa Graphics End Distribution Agreement
xpedx® today announced it is working with Agfa Graphics to end their distribution agreement. The parties have agreed to an orderly wind-down of their
relationship to ensure end-user customers are properly supplied during the transition. Effective Feb. 28, 2011 xpedx will no longer distribute Agfa-branded
graphic products in the United States.
The decision follows Agfa’s acquisition of Pitman Company, a graphic distributor, in July, 2010. Also in July, Eastman Kodak Company named xpedx its
primary national dealer and simultaneously announced it would terminate Pitman’s right to distribute Kodak products effective Oct. 5.
xpedx says it will minimize impact to customers two ways: by helping customers advance to systems from other world-class manufacturers, or transition to
alternative sources for Agfa plates and graphic consumables.
“Our customers are our highest priority and whether they decide to explore new technologies, or go elsewhere for Agfa products, xpedx will support their
needs,” said Dennis Killion, director of Marketing-Graphics, xpedx. “Equally important is helping customers grow with complete, integrated systems, and our
supplier relationships must reflect that goal.”
xpedx is the largest supplier of printing paper, graphic supplies and equipment in North America. The company aligns with world-class manufacturers to be the
single-source provider of the products and services printers need to operate competitively.
“Today, our customers receive their plate shipments together with their two other largest purchases: paper and ink,” Killion said. “xpedx will continue to provide
customers with the supplies they need to efficiently operate through a single supply chain.”
EFI™ (NASDAQ: EFII) and xpedx®, a division of International Paper® (NYSE: IP), today announced a new agreement under which xpedx will distribute
numerous models of EFI’s Rastek™ wide format and VUTEk® superwide format digital printers to commercial and in-plant printers across the U.S. The
two companies also announced the expansion of their integration of paper information into EFI print MIS systems with the addition of EFI Monarch.
Best known for its award winning Fiery® controllers, EFI is a world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial, packaging,
in-plant and specialty printers worldwide. xpedx is one of North America’s largest business-to-business distributors and a top supplier to printers of all sizes
in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
xpedx is already an established reseller of EFI PrintSmith™ print MIS software, EFI Digital Storefront® Web-to-Print software ,Colorproof™ XF and other
graphics arts products, and now the complete Rastek portfolio and the QS line of VUTEk printers join the list.
?We’re excited to expand our relationship with xpedx, in particular to bring our award-winning wide and superwide format digital printers to an even broader
customer base,? said Frank Mallozzi, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing, EFI. ?We expect to realize a larger market segment of
commercial print than with previous partners, while print service providers of all specialties now have access to powerful Rastek and VUTEk printers that
can boost their productivity, bring in new clients and increase profits. Alongside of this, we’re pleased to add Monarch integration with the xpedx paper
catalog, to further simplify this critical component in the supply chain.?
?To evolve their businesses, printers need to invest in systems and equipment that drive top-line revenue while reducing costs and increasing efficiency,?
said Dennis Killion, director of marketing, xpedx. ?Wide and superwide format printing are high-growth opportunities and xpedx has the workflow and
color management expertise needed to integrate these technologies into established workflows so they generate growth sooner.?
xpedx and EFI Monarch Integrate Paper Procurement in Bidding and Production
Building on the success of the PrintSmith integration with the xpedx paper catalog, EFI Monarch print MIS customers now have real-time paper
inventory, customer pricing and order management built-in to the Monarch software. Killion says that merging xpedx eCommerce solutions with EFI’s
PrintSmith and Monarch MIS systems lowers total procurement costs for a printer’s largest spend. Paper and substrates account for as much as half of a
total job cost, and specification decisions directly impact total job profitability, making automation a critical business issue for printers today.
EFI products are available via the xpedx distribution network, which includes merchant locations, stores, xpedx.com and the xpedx Technology Center
located in metro Cincinnati.
