Xaar Introduces New Printhead

Today, world-leading inkjet technology specialist Xaar is proud to launch the Xaar 501 GS8, a high-performance graphics printhead delivering exceptional 
print quality, industrial-level reliability and high production up-time. The new printhead incorporates PrecisionPlus™, a brand new architecture from Xaar 
designed to enable indoor and outdoor signage printers to remain at the leading edge of print performance. In addition, the Xaar 501 combines 
PrecisionPlus™ architecture with the option of Xaar's unique TF Technology™ to deliver exceptional reliability, even in the harshest environments. 
OEMs and print service providers taking up this new printhead can therefore set themselves apart from their competitors. 

The Xaar 501, the first in a family of printheads to incorporate Xaar’s PrecisionPlus™, is the result of considerable investment in R&D over recent years. This 
new printhead can print in binary mode at up to 1440 dpi with an 8 pL drop size or with 4 grey levels at 360 dpi to deliver high productivity with an 
effective resolution of over 600 dpi. It is compatible with a range of solvent and UV inks. 

PrecisionPlus™ raises the bar in print performance
This new architecture, which builds on Xaar’s highly-successful Hybrid Side Shooter™ design, optimises actuator performance to deliver unprecedented 
drop velocity, drop volume and drop placement profiles for consistent colour across the print swathe. This results in outstanding print quality with 
smooth tints, gradations and excellent edge definition. 

OEMs can choose TF Technology™ for unparalleled reliability
Industrial levels of reliability are achieved using Xaar’s unrivalled TF Technology™, which has driven customer demand for the world-leading Xaar 1002. 
TF Technology™ reduces sedimentation when using heavily pigmented inks such as white, extends maintenance cycles and improves reliability. 

As an option in the Xaar 501, TF Technology™ combined with PrecisionPlus™ is available in two modes – Pulsed mode and High Flow mode. TF Technology™ 
in High Flow mode ensures continuous ink flow at a high rate directly past the back of the printhead nozzles during drop ejection. This carries away any 
air bubbles or unwanted particles in the fluid and radically improves production reliability. Alternatively, TF Technology™ in the new Pulsed mode 
recirculates ink during non-printing periods only. This ensures that the key reliability benefits of TF Technology™ can be delivered to customers with 
minimum cost and complexity. With TF Technology™, value-added effects such as printing on transparent or coloured substrates with white ink or 
adding varnishes are made easy using the Xaar 501. For those not requiring TF Technology™, the Xaar 501 operates with standard wide-format 
graphics ink supply systems. 

Flexible and easy integration
The accurate mounting features on the Xaar 501 enable multiple printheads to be rapidly mounted together with minimal adjustment. Industry 
standard permanent ink connections and simple ink priming ensures that integration to inks systems is clean and easy. 

The versatile Xaar 501 gives manufacturers considerable freedom to tailor their printer designs. A choice of ink supply options (vacuum controlled and Xaar 
TF Technology™ in new Pulsed or High Flow modes) allows OEMs to pick the best solution to fit their application.

Xaar Launches the All New Xaar 1002 GS6 Printhead for UV Applications

Xaar, the world’s leading inkjet technology specialist, is pleased to announce the launch of the All New Xaar 1002 GS6 for UV applications. This 
next generation printhead redefines the standard in single-pass printing, delivering exceptional print quality and productivity to manufacturers 
worldwide. 

The Xaar 1002 GS6 has been developed and optimised for a wide range of UV applications; these include labels, laminates, direct-to-shape, packaging 
and other types of product decoration, where product quality and industrial levels of reliability are paramount. 

The All New Xaar 1002 GS6 incorporates multiple new technology features, drawing on Xaar’s many years’ experience in a number of industry sectors, 
giving improved drop volume uniformity and drop placement accuracy for an even higher quality printed image. Featuring 1000 Optimised Geometry 
nozzles, the Xaar 1002 GS6 can jet and place drops with the highest precision on the market. As a result this new printhead produces high resolution 
text and images with smooth tones demanded by manufacturers globally. 

A key feature of the All New Xaar 1002 is its ability to print heavily pigmented high opacity white inks and high viscosity varnishes extremely reliably, 
enabled by Xaar’s patented ink recirculation technology, TF Technology™. Therefore it is the ideal printhead for a wide range of UV applications including 
labels and printing onto clear packaging for bottles, where opaque backup whites and high build spot varnishes are essential. 

The All New Xaar 1002 GS6 printhead builds on the outstanding success of the market-leading Xaar 1001 GS6 which has had a major impact on both 
printing and manufacturing industries world-wide, and is universally recognised as the leading industrial inkjet printhead. Manufacturers choose Xaar

Xaar Launches Two New High-Performance Printheads for Wide Format

Xaar, the leading independent supplier of industrial inkjet printheads, has added two new greyscale printheads to the successful premium-quality, 
wide-swathe (53.7mm) Xaar Proton inkjet family. The Xaar Proton 15 and Xaar Proton 15+ both deliver 15 picolitre drops at high speed, providing 
outstanding print quality, excellent productivity and exceptional value. 

These new greyscale printheads, which join the binary Xaar Proton 35 and Xaar Proton 60, are ideal for high quality indoor and outdoor graphics. The 
expanded Xaar Proton family allows printer manufacturers to deliver a wider product range with the best combination of throughput and print quality 
while minimizing the cost of printer development.

The Xaar Proton 15 uses Xaar's Drop Optimization Technology (XaarDOT(TM)) to print in binary or greyscale modes. In greyscale mode, 15, 30 and 45 
picolitre drops can be used simultaneously to print a single image. This allows fine detail to be combined with smooth tones. Alternatively, in binary 
mode, an image can be printed using a single drop size selected from this range. As a result, the Xaar Proton 15 caters for a wide variety of indoor 
and outdoor graphics applications. The Xaar Proton 15+ adds internal ink temperature control to enable the printhead to work with an even wider 
variety of ink types and viscosities. Precise temperature control is important for maintaining high quality printing in environments where ambient 
temperatures may fluctuate during the day, or from season to season.

The Xaar Proton 15 incorporates the latest Xaar technology to ensure the highest quality, productivity and reliability. Individually lasered nozzles, 
optimized ink drop speeds, and Xaar's latest 'chevron' actuator design, combine to give efficient and consistent drop formation resulting in 
outstanding print quality. 

The robust design of the Xaar Proton 15, with lockable ink and electrical connections, ensures easy and secure installation. In addition, the 
integration of intelligent on-board electronics reduces development costs and time-to-market for printer developers. 

Xaar's two new printheads make their global debut at Shanghai International Advertising & Sign Technology & Equipment Exhibition (11th-14th 
July 2012 Shanghai, China) on the Xaar booth (Hall N5/001). In addition, visitors to the show will be able to see Xaar Proton 15-enabled printers 
demonstrated by Design Digital Science & Technology, Huangjian Digital Technology (Shanghai), Shanghai Bluewin Digital Technology, Shanghai 
ColorTop Digital Technology, Shanghai Huidi Digital Technology, Shanghai Zhong Yin International and Signstar International Industrial. Design 
Digital Science & Technology and Shanghai Huidi Digital Technology will also unveil Xaar Proton 15+-enabled printers on their booths.
