Visual Magnetics Chooses Trico Specialty Films as a Major Supplier
Visual Magnetics, LP, developer of the Visual Magnetics® Graphic System™, today announced that the company has selected Trico Specialty Films,
LLC of North Kingstown, Rhode Island as a major supplier for components used in the manufacture of its Visual Magnetics Graphics System. This new
domestic venture will bring at least $1 million dollars of business to the local economy, with the potential to grow to as much as $7 million in the near
future. The new business brought in by Visual Magnetics also provides Trico Specialty Films with the potential to double its employment.
The Visual Magnetics Graphic System matches patented magnetic-receptive technology with high-quality print media to enable the creation of
photo-quality promotional graphics that can be updated effortlessly, offering a truly unique and innovative solution for the graphics industry. The
Visual Magnetics Graphic System can be tailored to meet a wide array of changeable graphic needs and is engineered to be ultra-low profile,
allowing for multi-layering of images while giving the seamless appearance of a single layer print.
The Visual Magnetics Graphic System effectively changes the way graphic displays are currently rolled out – which can typically involve any number
of challenges such as high shipping costs, the need for professional installers, unnecessary waste and limited usability of promotional graphics.
Since its introduction in 2007, the Visual Magnetics system has revolutionized the way that many businesses are producing and installing promotional
graphics, with over 200 major brands currently using Visual Magnetics.
“Visual Magnetics is proud to have American made products in our portfolio as we strongly believe in growing our local economy and creating jobs for
American workers,” said Joe Deetz, president and CEO of Visual Magnetics. “Trico is also an ideal partner due to its superior manufacturing skills and
quality, coupled with the fact that the company can react in way that overseas manufacturers simply cannot with respect to critical business issues
such as fast turnaround time, delivery time, product redesign and more.”
Trico Specialty Films, LLC was originally founded in 1996, and makes specialty films for the graphics, label, release and automotive markets. All Trico
materials are environmentally-friendly, plasticizer free and 100% recyclable, which is a critical factor as Visual Magnetics is committed to
environmental responsibility. Visual Magnetics has implemented a recycling program in which all users are encouraged to return all retired graphics
printed on MagnaMedia® print films to Visual Magnetics to be recycled using a process that creates both renewable energy and steel.
Visual Magnetics Introduces New POLYpeel Magnetic-Receptive Film
Visual Magnetics, developer of the Visual Magnetics™ Graphic System, today introduced the new POLYpeel™ magnetic-receptive film. The 3-mil magnetic-
receptive satin polyester film boasts a highly magnetic coating on the back, which allows for the printing of images that will hold magnets through the surface
of the film. This allows a user to place magnets directly on a printed image, and with POLYpeel’s microsphere adhesive technology, the image can be removed
at will. POLYpeel is an ideal solution for applications such as menu boards, or for the temporary placement of any magnetic-receptive removable panel.
Visual Magnetics’ microsphere technology allows for user- friendly installation with harmless removal and repositioning of the panel. Unlike the standard Visual
Magnetics Graphic System that is engineered to be placed over a magnetized base, POLYpeel magnetic-receptive film has a removable adhesive that
adheres to most smooth surfaces.
“Innovation is at the heart of everything we create at Visual Magnetics, and we designed our new POLYpeel magnetic-receptive film to put an entirely new
spin on magnetic-receptive graphic solutions,” said Joe Deetz, founder and CEO of Visual Magnetics. “We created POLYPeel to provide a better option
than previous magnetic-receptive surfaces made with steel, offering more flexibility for removable/repositionable magnetic-receptive graphics.”
POLYpeel magnetic-receptive film is available now in 54” widths, compatible with UV curable, screen, HP Latex, solvent and Litho printing platforms.
POLYpeel magnetic-receptive film is made from 25-50% post-consumer soda bottles and is part of Visual Magnetics’ recycling program in which users are
encouraged to return all used material to Visual Magnetics to be recycled for automotive manufacturing.
Visual Magnetics, developer of the Visual Magnetics™ Graphic System, today announced that Oakley, Inc. has used its system to reinvent the way it
creates and installs in-store signage. The new method of display enabled by the Visual Magnetics Graphic System has allowed Oakley to cut shipping costs
associated with in-store signage by more than 50 percent, and achieve greater flexibility in changing out promotional graphics.
Visual Magnetics’ system is a unique large-scale graphics solution that matches magnetic-receptive technologies with high-quality print media to enable the
creation of in-store graphics that can be updated effortlessly. Unlike traditional printable magnets, which are difficult to print on and cut, and require a steel
base for installation, the Visual Magnetics Graphic System offers a patented, non-metal based media option that is flexible and smooth, easily printable, and
can be applied on virtually any surface.
The Visual Magnetics system components include MagnaMediaÔ magnetic-receptive papers and films, and InvisiLockÒ magnet technology, which may be
applied to virtually any surface, incorporated into frames and fixtures, or simply mounted directly to a wall. Once InvisiLock is applied, users can easily roll
graphics printed on any MagnaMedia to achieve instant, high-quality signage and graphics. Visual Magnetics’ MagnaMedia is so thin that when combined
with the properties of the InvisiLock magnet, it is possible to create layerable graphics to update images instantly for specific promotions, without the use of
frames, fasteners or adhesives.
Oakley began using the Visual Magnetics system in 2005, when the retailer selected it to replace its traditionally printed and mounted foam board cash wrap
displays. Oakley applied InvisiLock to 4’ by 8’ inset back frames located behind the cash registers in its Oakley and Oakley Vault retail outlets, and from then
on, simply changed out the faces with new MagnaMedia–printed signage as the company’s graphic assets were updated. Installation of MagnaMedia is
easy – users simply unroll the media onto the surface. According to Oakley concept development manager Philip Gordon, the company began realizing
enormous benefits from the system almost immediately.
“Before using Visual Magnetics, every time we had an asset update, we were sending shipments to each store that weighed 60 pounds or more,” said
Gordon. “With Visual Magnetics, because we only need to swap out the faces of the display, we can just roll the graphics up and ship them like paper.
We started seeing enormous savings on shipping costs right away.”
Gordon continued, “Damages had also been a problem – a percentage of the assets we shipped were invariably damaged in transit, and resources had to
be used to try to recoup our losses from those damages. With Visual Magnetics’ system, that is no longer an issue.”
Oakley was so pleased with the performance of the Visual Magnetics Graphic System in the cash wrap applications that the retailer began to integrate the
concept into its store build-outs, by having the manufacturers put in magnetic walls. Today, all of Oakley’s 117 retail stores in the U.S. utilize the Visual
Magnetics Graphic System for their promotional signage.
“The Visual Magnetics Graphic System is an elegantly simple interface for changing out graphics,” said Gordon. “Image quality is also important to us, and
we have found Visual Magnetics’ media has a particularly nice white base that delivers excellent color reproduction. This technology has really exceeded
our expectations in every way, and liberated us to be more flexible and free in our promotions.”
“We are delighted with the success that Oakley has had with our graphics system,” said Joe Deetz, founder and CEO of Visual Magnetics. “This technology
has the potential to revolutionize the way companies roll out their promotional campaigns, and we are seeing an increasing number of customers around the
world who are doing just that.”
