Konica Minolta Launches the bizhub 360
Newest Monochrome bizhub MFP Supports Konica's Commitment to Providing Secure Network Solutions
Across All MFP Segments
RAMSEY, NJ - March 5, 2007 - Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today
introduced the all-new bizhubTM 360 that will provide all-in-one capabilities (printer/copier/scanner/fax) and
serve as an ideal replacement for Segment 3 monochrome multifunctional products (MFPs) to small and
medium-sized office workgroups. With advanced security and data handling features and an efficient 36
pages-per-minute (ppm) black and white output, the compact bizhub 360 enables workgroups to digitally
share and distribute black and white documents through a secure network-enabled device.
"With the addition of the bizhub 360 to the Konica Minolta line of products, we are confident that the bizhub
360's impressive combination of speed, features, ease-of-use, and flexible multi-functionality will fit into a very
wide range of markets," said Kevin P. Kern, vice president, product planning and development, Konica Minolta
Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "The bizhub 360 will allow every office to operate more efficiently and
cost-effectively."
Key Standard Features
The bizhub 360 offers the following standard features: robust monthly duty cycle of 150,000 pages;
monochrome copying up to 36 ppm; rapid black and white scanning up to 70 originals-per-minute (OPM);
push scanning to multiple destinations (Email, HDD, FTP, and PC); User Box functionality with password
protection; Konica Minolta Simitri® Polymerized Toner; 1200 dpi equivalent print and copy resolution; and
a three-way tilting, ease-of-use control panel. Network printing is facilitated via the optional IC-204 imaging
controller.
bizhub OP
Konica Minolta's bizhub OP (Operating Platform) brings a continued level of performance and reliability to the
bizhub 360 by delivering a common user experience, increased manageability, superior print performance,
improved scanning functionality and enhanced security. The three major components of bizhub OP are the
bizhub Architecture, the Emperon Print System and bizhub Open API. The bizhub architecture removes the
need for separate functional boards through the utilization of common system software that drives all
functions - copy, print, scan and fax.
The bizhub 360's architecture also eliminates hardware-based functions, and shares the device's CPU and
memory for a seamless MFP user experience. The Emperon Print System provides for total integration of
document output management with a consistent user interface and functionality across future Konica Minolta
products. In addition, the bizhub Open API will enable control of both the print and scan functions from
external applications.
Enhanced Imaging and Paper Handling
Featuring 256 levels of grayscale per pixel and 600 x 600 dpi print/copy resolution, the bizhub 360 produces
clear text, sharp edges and increased halftone definition. The bizhub 360 uses Konica Minolta Simitri
Polymerized Toner, which maintains the uniformity of the toner particles for more even distribution, significantly
better halftone definition and better solid fills.
With these image quality features, plus 5,650-sheet maximum paper capacity; the ability to handle up to
110 lb. index from bypass and copy, scan, or duplex originals; and the choice of a versatile modular finisher or
advanced booklet finisher, the bizhub 360 is designed to handle the heavy workload of black and white
document needs for small- to medium-sized office workgroups. The bizhub 360's ease of use in multi-model
environments is extremely beneficial in large organizations that have a variety of MFP's installed.
Optional Faxing Capabilities
Also available for the new bizhub 360 is the optional 33.6 Kbps Super G3 analog Fax Kit. The optional fax
capabilities include: 32 MB of memory, transmissions in B&W up to 11" x 17", JBIG data compression, up to
600 x 600 fax TX resolution, separate scanning, duplex TX and RX, mixed original faxing, PC faxing, memory
reception and delayed transmission.
Advanced Security and Data Handling Features
With document security and document management playing a significant role in the technology acquisition
decision-making process, the bizhub 360 supports Konica Minolta's award-winning Hard Disk Drive Overwrite
security feature and Job Erase, which automatically overwrites the hard disk drive after each job. In addition,
the bizhub 360 offers User Authentication to protect a user job by prohibiting its modification or deletion. With
User Authentication, it is also possible to enable or disable each user's access to the device based on
function - copy, print, scan, and fax.
The bizhub 360's User Box functionality, with its PageScope Box Operator software, supports each of the
device's functions - copy, print, scan and fax. With a total of 1,000 user boxes and the ability to store up to
3,000 documents, users can manage individual User Boxes, create public and private User Boxes, assign
passwords, and restrict the number of files stored.
Pricing and Availability
The bizhub 360 is available through Konica Minolta's North American direct sales, authorized dealer and
value-added reseller channels. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the bizhub 360 is
$9,200.00.
