Canon U.S.A. Begins Shipping DR-4010C High-Speed Color
Document Imaging Solution
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., January 17, 2007
This month, Canon U.S.A., Inc. has begun shipping the new DR-4010C scanner, the latest addition to Canon’s
award-winning [i] DR scanner line. The DR-4010C provides color scanning up to 42 pages per minute (ppm)
and 84 images per minute (ipm), one of the fastest among departmental scanners in the market today.
The Canon DR-4010C made an impressive debut during the ARMA International Conference and Expo as
well as the BAI Conference and Expo in late 2006, said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Imaging Systems
Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc., Given Canon’s recent marketshare growth in the document scanner market,
we look forward to future growth in 2007 with the addition of the DR-4010C.
The departmental scanner segment registered impressive growth over the last 2 years and is expected to show
another formidable performance in 2007. With the DR-4010C scanner, Canon plans to further strengthen and
expand its position within this segment. By offering Production segment features with a Departmental price this
scanner will be capable of tackling potential market challenges.
As document imaging rapidly becomes a mainstream in today’s office environment, companies look to faster
more robust scanning devices, the Canon DR-4010C will look to fill key role in this burgeoning marketplace.
Vertical markets such as healthcare, legal, financial, education, and government were among the first to
utilize document imaging workflows and are now experiencing the need for faster document processing and
more dynamic imaging features.
The DR-4010C boasts Canon’s new Advanced Text Enhancement technology and the company’s new
Auto Color Detection feature to optimize data-capture. The Advanced Text Enhancement technology allows
the device to capture text information from scanned documents by removing patterned backgrounds,
enhancing light colored texts and removing halftone backgrounds. This technology helps ensure all text is
properly extracted and captured on all scanned documents.
Canon’s new Auto Color Detection automatically distinguishes between color and black-and-white documents
and generates the appropriate color or black-and-white image accordingly. This feature allows for color
and black-and-white documents to be scanned in a single batch without the need to separate documents
and scan separately.
The DR-4010C scanner has been tested and is compatible with the following imaging software solutions:
AccuSoft Corp.
Compulink Management Center Inc.
Docubase Systems Inc.
DocuWare Corp.
EMC Corp.
Hyland Software Inc. OnBase software suite
