"A year ago, when so many of the board's long-time members were retiring after years of commitment, we began
to consider the mix of backgrounds, experience, skills and range of contacts that would best serve the
organization’s interests and supplement ISA's current talent pool," said 2007 ISA Chairwoman Teresa M. Young.
The nomination process brought a slate of talented new board members who are knowledgeable and passionate
about what this organization does and hopes to accomplish.
"Today, the transfer of power from the mentors of our past to the new volunteers of 2007 can be deemed a
resounding success," said Young. "Our new board members are eager to deliver tangible benefits for our industry
and our members. I am very proud to follow the wisdom of this board as its chairwoman for the next 12 months."
In addition to the new board of directors, Teresa M. Young, president and CEO of SignBiz, Inc. in Dana Point,
Calif., was named chairman of the International Sign Association for 2007, becoming the first woman to head
the nation’s leading on-premise signage industry group.
"Teresa is an outstanding and highly successful business leader and we feel very fortunate to have her at the
helm of our organization as we implement a new strategic direction," said ISA President and CEO Lori Anderson.
"Teresa knows the industry, she’s familiar with the issues facing us and she understands what our members
expect of ISA. She is exactly the right person at the right time."
Young will be joined by Ken Von Wald, president of Denco Sales Co., Denver, Colo., in the role of vice chairman
and Roy Cox, president of Trav-Ad Signs, Inc., Huntsville, Ala., as ISA’s secretary/treasurer. Thomas L.
Cummings III, chief operating officer of Encore Image Group, Torrance, Calif., will serve as immediate past
chairman for 2007.
"The collective talent level and industry experience of our new executive committee is impressive," said Anderson.
"With this leadership team in place, ISA has a solid foundation for ensuring that our organization grows in a prudent
manner while remaining committed to our mission of supporting, improving and promoting the sign industry."
