PODi Announces Dates and Track Chairs for 2007 Application Forum
Rochester, NY - PODi, the Digital Printing Initiative, today announced the 2007 Application Forum has been
scheduled for February 12 - 14, 2007 at the Anaheim Hilton in Orange County, CA. The 2007 Forum will focus
on providing digital print providers and users with the knowledge to make smart changes to succeed with their
business strategies, sales approaches and customer relationships. The annual Application Forum is the only
conference dedicated exclusively to digital printing, and it has become one of the most respected events for
printing professionals at all levels. Attendance continues to grow every year, as participants gain valuable insights
and ideas that help them improve their business results. "I paid for the PODi Application Forum with the
(self-mailer) idea I got there," Boomerang Vice President Mathew Heim said of the 2006 Forum.
"Because of societal trends such as the rise of the Web and the decline in reading, the printing industry faces
challenges more dramatic than it has in decades. To thrive, printers and their customers must make equally
dramatic changes in the way they do business. The program for the 2007 Application Forum is designed to bring
together those who are successfully navigating this transition and provide direction for those who are just getting
started," said Rab Govil, president of PODi. New tracks, sessions and sponsorship opportunities are planned to
continue developing the Forum as one of the most relevant events for printing professionals, marketers, business
owners and others driving greater results through digital printing.
The Call for Speakers for the Application Forum closes July 31, while many sponsorship opportunities, which
historically have sold out, are now available.
The Forum is a premier educational event with a highly focused agenda that addresses business and technical
issues affecting digital printing, including the latest sales and marketing methodologies, along with production
and workflow technologies. Forum content continually exceeds attendee expectations. "I am amazed by the
breadth and depth of this conference," said Rick Schmaelzle, Account Executive at Plus Digital Print.
The 2007 Forum will feature three knowledge-packed tracks: Advanced Business Strategy, Operations and
Processes, and Corporate Marketing. New to the 2007 Forum will be special intensives and in-depth special
sessions on specific topics such as material for people just getting started with digital printing initiatives. Attendees
will gain information to help them use digital printing to boost their success. "I found it full of information and ideas.
The networking opportunities were the best," said Jim Duffy, President of Alonzo Printing, of his experience.
Three of the industry’s most experienced leaders have been confirmed as track chairmen: John Giles, Rick
Littrell and Shaun Schooley. John Giles is owner of The Giles Group, a consulting company for the small
commercial printing industry. He specializes in prepress issues and is technical advisor to CPrint (Certified Printers
International), a franchise of independent printers. Giles is the author of several books, including Digital Directions:
A Workflow Guide for Customer Files. Rick Littrell of MagiComm works with personalized, multi-channel marketing
communication systems that leverage web-enabled workflow. Past roles include vice resident of field operations
for Polaroid Graphic Imaging Systems and senior product management for Agfa computer-to-plate systems. Other
positions have been in prepress production, Application development, and product development for leading
vendors and end users.
As Caslon Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Shaun Schooley is responsible for highly targeted, relevant
marketing strategies. Most recently, he deployed a templatebased multi-channel communication system that
reduced overall market communication spending by $15M at a financial services company. Prior to Caslon,
Schooley was vice president of enterprise communication at Schwab. He also oversaw strategic planning,
financial functions, marketing, product design and development, and payment operations at Amazon.com.
The PODi Application Forum has established a reputation for excellence, as evidenced by these comments on
the 2006 conference. "The event was fabulous! The sessions were rich in content; the attendees spanned a
mix of industries and marketing, design, IT, and print titles; and the keynotes were insightful," declared Robin
Tobin, Senior Manager, Print Industry Marketing, Adobe Systems.
