MacDermid ColorSpan Wins DPI Product-of-the-Year Award
Minneapolis, MN - MacDermid ColorSpan, Inc. is pleased to announce their second Product of the Year award
in the past three years. On September 26, 2006 at the SGIA 2006 Show in Las Vegas, NV, the ColorSpan
9840uv was awarded the DPI Product-of-the-Year Award in the Flatbed Rigid Substrate Output Device category.
In 2004, the company’s DisplayMaker 72sr won the honor.
Companies within the industry entered the competition by submitting a print from an image created by the Digital
Printing and Imaging Association (DPI). The output then was judged in four separate categories, based on
output size, and judged on factors such as color, detail and tonality. DPI has sponsored the competition each
year and honors those who have produced the best quality print within each category.
MacDermid’s ColorSpan 9840uv took home the award for best output from flatbed printers on rigid substrates.
The image was 30" x 40" actual size and was printed on a sheet of Alcan GatorPlast.
"We are once again honored to win another prestigious award with the image quality of our printers," said Bruce
Butler, Director of Marketing. "The ColorSpan 9840uv made its US public debut at the SGIA show and we were
very pleased with the high amount of interest in the product. Designed as an industrial UV flatbed inkjet printer,
it can produce output up to 811 square feet per hour and print up to 98-inches wide on media up to 2.75-inches
thick. That is all great, but this award confirms what superior output quality it can produce!"
