SEAL Introduces New Heat-Assist Wide Format Laminator at
International Sign Expo 2006
Elkridge, Maryland and International Sign Expo 2006, Orlando, Florida: This year’s International Sign Expo is
the showcase for the launch of the new SEAL® 54 Base wide format laminator. Aimed at sign shops and small
to medium sized digital graphics producers, the 54 Base offers heat-assisted, pressure-sensitive image finishing
and materials application up to 55" (1400 mm) wide, at an affordable price. MSRP is $8,649.
According to Neschen Americas, the 54 Base affords easy operation for novice and experienced users alike.
Features include: ergonomic digital controls, auto grip supply shafts, swing-up feed table for easy webbing,
adjustable pressure and speed settings, manual nip adjustment, a foot switch, full safety systems, and a sturdy
frame with casters. Production speeds are up to 16 fpm (5 mpm) and the wide roller nip opening can
accommodate a broad range of production applications, up to 2" (50 mm) thick.
"What makes the Seal 54 Base especially unique is its ‘heat-assist’ top roller," says Dave Conrad, Neschen
Americas’ product manager for hardware. "It’s a pressure-sensitive laminator, yet the top roller can be heated
to 104 degrees F (40 degrees C). This is not enough heat to apply heat-activated films, but the warm roller will
significantly improve the application performance of many of today’s pressure sensitive materials. With a little
heat, the films and adhesives become more pliable and lay down smooth and flat," explains Conrad.
The Seal 54 Base operates on standard 115 VAC 12-amp electrical service and is C.E. certified. For more
