Roland Announces 968-Sqft./Hr. Industrial Strength Grand Format Printer
Irvine, CA, March 31, 2006 - Roland DGA Corporation, a leading provider of wide-format inkjet printers and
integrated print/cutters, today announced the release of the 104" Advanced JET AJ-1000, an industrial strength,
grand format printer and the company’s fastest inkjet to date.
With a maximum production speed of 968 sqft./hr. and a precision print mode of 484 sqft./hr., the Advanced
JET AJ-1000 is ideal for high-volume applications including banners, billboards, outdoor signage and other
durable graphics. The AJ-1000 produces brilliant six-color CMYK+LcLm graphics on both coated and uncoated
media, offering superior ink bonding, scratch resistance and alcohol resistance for outstanding outdoor durability.
In addition, the AJ-1000 features high-capacity 1 liter ink cartridges for seamless unattended printing, an
advanced ink delivery system that allows replacement of cartridges without pausing, and a robust media
handling system for rolls weighing up to 220 pounds. An automated intelligent maintenance system keeps print
heads performing optimally.

New Xtreme Ink
New advanced Xtreme ink was developed exclusively for the AJ-1000 to deliver outstanding color density,
wider gamut and rugged durability. Available in 6 colors (CMYK+LcLm), Xtreme ink produces vibrant images
even in high-speed production modes. The new ink is particularly well suited for volume banner production,
offering exceptional bonding with uncoated banner substrates, enhanced scratch resistance and alcohol
resistance.
VersaWorks
The AJ-1000 comes complete with VersaWorks, a powerful RIP software developed by Roland engineers for
the company’s inkjet technology. Built upon the genuine Adobe® PostScript® CPSI RIP engine, VersaWorks
features an efficient graphical user interface that allows users to maximize the AJ-1000 features without a lengthy
learning curve. In addition to advanced color management tools, VersaWorks includes a wide variety of
convenient layout, edit and print functions such as nesting, tiling and auto/manual-layout, among others.
VersaWorks offers the ability to preview jobs on screen, reducing ink and media consumption due to mistakes.
Users can use two job queues for handling different print conditions and can automatically update VersaWorks
through the Internet, ensuring that they always have the latest software version and Roland DGA ICC profiles
available. VersaWorks is compatible with Windows 2000/XP operating systems.
