Lyson Introduces Quad Black for Canon’s i9900
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL (February 6, 2006) - Lyson, Inc., a leading provider of inks, media, and related
products to the printing, photography, graphic arts, and other allied industries, has introduced a version of its
Quad Black ink set for the popular Canon i9900 Photo Printer. The new ink set, which incorporates 8 different
inks, is available in cartridges or as bulk ink for a bulk feed delivery system designed for the printer.
Lyson Quad Black ink sets have long been renowned for their quality and longevity. Quad Black inks are
dye-based, which runs against the recent trend towards pigmented inks in photographic inkjet printing; but
with the proven longevity of Lyson's exclusive black dye technology rivaling most pigmented ink sets (Independent
testing of these inks by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. indicates an estimated display life of in excess of 100
years in average indoor display conditions.), the benefits of using dye-based inks in monochrome printing are
significant to professional photographers:
- Deeper, richer blacks
- D-max potential of greater than 4 (the best pigmented inks can only achieve around 1.8)
- The ability to print on gloss media without bronzing (i.e., gloss differential), currently impossible with pigmented
inks
A highly sophisticated large format machine with output rivaling professional processing labs, the Canon i9900
combines techniques in ink droplet size with accurate ink application and composition for spectacular photo
results. According to Tony Martin, president of Lyson, Inc., "The black and white images using Quad Black on
Canon’s i9900 are as dazzling as any inkjet monochrome images ever produced on the machine."
