Roland DGA Corporation today announced the new VersaCAMM SP-i series of inkjet printer/cutters featuring
innovative Roland print/cut technology which combines precision printing and contour cutting all in one device
through one seamless workflow.
The new VersaCAMM SP-i series includes the 30” SP-300i and the 54” SP-540i inkjet printer/cutters, engineered
from the ground up to enhance the productivity of creative professionals everywhere – from marketing departments
and retailers to sign shops and screen printers. As integrated printer/cutters, VersaCAMM SP-i inkjets make it
easier and faster to produce graphics of virtually any size and shape. Applications include POP displays, labels,
decals, vehicle and floor graphics, heat transfers for apparel, posters, banners, signs and more.
VersaCAMM SP-i printer/cutters feature several enhancements over the previous models including Roland
Intelligent Pass Control™ for new levels of productivity and higher image quality, a new heavy duty media
handling system for stable media feeding through long production runs and new VersaWorks 3.2 RIP software.

Roland Intelligent Pass Control
Roland Intelligent Pass Control optimizes VersaCAMM SP-i image quality by overlapping and feathering
consecutive passes so they literally become one continuous image. As a result, SP-i prints reflect smoother
gradations and dense, flawless solid colors in every print mode.
Roland Intelligent Pass Control also increases productivity by allowing users to achieve outstanding image
quality at higher print speeds. VersaCAMM SP-i inkjets print up to 50 percent faster in Standard print mode
than the previous models. *

Innovative Print/Cut Technology
Designed for both novices and experienced graphics professionals, the VersaCAMM SP-i inkjets are designed
for the production of complex graphics – printing and then automatically contour cutting images without any steps
in between. As a result, the SP-i series can be operated unattended. The print/cut feature also enables the
VersaCAMM to print and cut without registration or crop marks. This both reduces media waste and increases
usable print area.
Exceptional Media Handling, Automated Maintenance and More
The VersaCAMM SP-i series features a new heavy-duty media handling system that ensures stable media
feeding through long print runs. With the new system, the SP-300i handles rolls weighing up to 44 pounds
and the SP-540i accepts up to 66 pounds.
The VersaCAMM SP-i series also supports an optional automated media feed and take-up system to facilitate
precision unattended printing. The TU2-30 and TU2-54 include convenient front-mounted take-up rollers and
advanced tension-controlled take-up units for optimum media feed and tracking. The SP-i series includes an
integrated two-stage heater system which dries prints quickly even in high-speed mode for immediate finishing,
installation or collection by the take-up system.
In addition, an automated maintenance system ensures trouble-free operation and a new maintenance cover
provides easy access to print heads for manual cleanings when needed. With the SP-i series, both 30” and 54”
models come equipped with Ethernet connections.
VersaCAMM SP-i inkjets come with Roland’s ECO-SOL MAX eco-solvent ink, offering dense, rich colors, fast
dry time, wide gamut, uncoated media support and exceptional durability of up to three years outdoors without
lamination.
VersaWorks 3.2 RIP Software
The VersaCAMM SP-300i and SP-540i take full advantage of new Roland VersaWorks 3.2 RIP software. This
true Adobe PostScript 3 RIP is designed by Roland to ensure exceptional production output with unmatched
ease of use and incorporates the latest Adobe CPSI 3018 engine for faster RIP processing, better color and
smoother gradations. VersaWorks 3.2 uses Roland Intelligent Pass Control to optimize the output quality on the
SP-i series and estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic produced. VersaWorks can control up
to four Roland devices including printers, printer/cutters and cutters. It prints cutter crop marks for an automated
print/laminate/cut workflow. With Roland@NET, updates are free and easy, automatically uploaded through
an Internet connection.
