Mondi Presents Innovative Biodegradable and Compostable Polymers
-based Release Liner Solutions at Labelexpo 2009
Mondi presents its innovative product portfolio of silicone-coated release liners for the label industry and a wide
range of newly developed functional coatings at this year’s Labelexpo in Brussels, Belgium from September 23 -
26, 2009.
In 2009 Mondi focuses on creating new solutions utilising functional coatings and biopolymers. "Consistent high-
quality of release liners adapted to specific manufacturing conditions is crucial to our customers. Mondi takes a
leading role in the development of biodegradable films and coated substrates and extends its Sustainex®
product range by a biodegradable and compostable polymerbased release liner - according to EN 13432 - ,"
said Carsten Lange, General Manager Release Liner Europe.
In addition to the existing films and extrusion coated products, this newly developed release liner offers additional
beneficial solutions for the self-adhesive industry. Release liner play an important role during the self-adhesive
labelling process, because they protect the adhesive during production and back the label during printing and
die-cutting.
"Market-oriented and innovative industries, requiring special functionalities for their end products and applications
are always looking for new opportunities. With our functional coating products, we are able to offer custom-
tailored solutions," stated Thorsten Röttger, International Key Account Director & Segment Marketing Director.
By combining and processing materials, Mondi can produce various types of products according to the respective
requirements. Typical functionalities within the range are: fireproof coatings for buildings or other industries; anti-
slip properties for medical apparel, trays, packaging and building; antistatic conductives for electronics, clean
room applications, tapes; top coating for films to improve printability and/or adhesive anchorage and many more.
