3M Announces New Reflective Films
3M Graphics Market Center announces the introduction of 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Graphic Film Series 5100
and Film IJ5100-- permanent, engineer grade films with brilliant retroreflection.
Film 5100 is a 6-mil film series designed for screen printing, piezo inkjet printing, thermal mass transfer or
electrostatic imaging. According to 3M, the film’s excellent cutting and weeding characteristics make it well
suited for cut letters, characters and decals, and its long term durability ensures that vehicle markings and
graphics as well as commercial or non-regulated signage will stay vibrant for years.
"Characters and numbers as small as one inch can be precisely cut and weeded to add the power of reflectivity
to essential details like phone numbers and web addresses," said Doug Blackwell, marketing manager, 3M
Graphic Markets Center. "These new films are available in 15 colors including royal purple, brown, light green
and rich gold. In addition, punched rolls in 15 and 30 inch widths and 10 yard rolls are available at no extra charge."
The film’s durable, engineer grade construction makes it ideal for graphics on commercial fleets, public service as
well as signage applications. Most colors meet or exceed the most recent standard ASTM D 4956-07 for Type I,
Class 1 sheeting, for reflectivity, weathering and daytime color. Finished graphics made with all 3M materials are
backed by the 3M™ MCS™ Warranty. The piezo inkjet version of film IJ5100-10 is also covered by the 3M
Performance Guarantee when printed on qualified printers and non-3M inks.
