Presstek to Showcase its Latest Generation of Chemistry-Free CTP
Solutions at drupa 2008
Hudson, NH - January 15, 2008 - Presstek, Inc., the leading manufacturer and marketer of digital offset printing
business solutions, today reported that it will be showing its industry-leading chemistryfree platemaking solutions
at drupa 2008 (Hall 04, Stand A55). Metal platemaking systems, including the highly productive and versatile
2-page and 4-page Dimension Excel series, Dimension 800, and the Vector TX52, will be featured. Presstek
will also show its Momentum Pro workflow which is an efficient solution that enables printers to be more capable,
profitable and competitive. The world’s largest printing trade show held every four years, drupa will run from
May 29th through June 11th, 2008, in Düsseldorf,
Raymond Hillhouse, Sales and Operations Director, Presstek Europe, commented: "We're looking forward to
drupa, it allows us to feature our latest DI® digital offset press and CTP solutions, both of which have helped
drive the industry’s transformation from analog to digital print production and led the way in chemistry-free
platemaking solutions. We will demonstrate how our solutions enable a streamlined workflow in a chemistry-free
environment that results in shorter printing cycles and lowers overall production costs, with no compromise in
Presstek’s True Chemistry-free, CTP Metal Platemaking Solutions
During drupa, Presstek will showcase a full range of CTP solutions and demonstrate how its chemistryfree
metal-based CTP solutions open up additional business opportunities, enabling compliance with environmental
regulations and requirements while delivering a more profitable and competitive business model.
Environmentally sustainable print production will be a key topic at drupa. Over the past 20 years, Presstek has
taken the lead in delivering CTP solutions with a minimal environmental footprint. "Presstek is a pioneer in the
delivery of chemistry-free CTP solutions, and we have long been able to demonstrate how faster, more cost
effective prepress, enabled by chemistry-free systems, can make it easier for print service providers to improve
turnaround times and profitability," stated John O’Rourke, marketing director for CTP products for Presstek.
Presstek's chemistry-free CTP systems deliver significant benefits:
- Improve consistency due to less steps in the workflow
- Increase cost savings through the elimination of platemaking chemistry costs, including the acquisition, storage,
management, reporting and disposal of used chemistry
- Confidence in job cost estimating with a more predictable cost per plate and less need to remake plates due to
imbalances in chemistry
Presstek’s Range of Dimension CTP Systems
Demonstrations of Presstek's Dimension Excel CTP systems will feature chemistry-free operation and produce
daylight-safe plates. Easy-to-use standard (Dimension225 and 425) and high-productivity (Dimension250 and
450) Excel CTP systems are available in two- and four-page models. Dimension Excel delivers a high performance
print solution with a streamlined workflow and high quality printed results using Presstek's Anthem Pro grained
anodized plate. Anthem Pro delivers run lengths up to 100,000 impressions.
- Ensure Quality Results. Unlike other chemistry-free plates on the market, Anthem Pro produces a visible,
high-contrast plate that is daylight-safe before, during and after imaging. Printers can visually proof the plate -
the strong, black image is highly visible - and handle the plate in full daylight conditions without concern for
fogging or post exposure. These features save time and are critical in avoiding costly mishaps and mistakes
before mounting the plate on press.
- Cost Saving Productivity. More jobs can be delivered in the same amount of time with the automation of key
steps and elimination of time-consuming prepress procedures. Anthem Pro plates image at full rated speed, do
not require baking, special cleaning fluids, or gumming. The result is great press performance, as well as less
Presstek Dimension450 Excel-Autoloader
In addition, Presstek will demonstrate the Dimension450 Excel-Autoloader, which is a new plate-loading
automation feature for Presstek's four-page thermal computer-to-plate (CTP) platesetter system. The
Dimension450 Excel-Autoloader is a cost-effective, automated plate loader that is fully integrated with the
Dimension450 and mounts up to 20 pre-punched plates for continuous operation. The Autoloader enhances
imaging productivity, allowing continuous chemistry-free platemaking at a throughput speed of 17 plates per hour.
Presstek Dimension800 CTP System
The Dimension800, one of the most efficient and compact eight-page platesetters available, will also be
showcased at drupa. The footprint is only 185 x 84 cm (73 x 33 inches). It is optimized to work with Presstek
chemistry-free Anthem Pro plates and supports run lengths up to 100,000 impressions.
Presstek Vector TX52 CTP System
Ideally suited for the quick/small commercial or in-plant printer, the Vector TX52 provides an affordable,
small-format, chemistry-free CTP solution that images high quality metal plates at a competitive price. The
system supports run lengths up to 25,000 impressions with plates of 52 cm and under, bringing affordable
metal platemaking within reach of even the smallest print operation and allowing them to benefit from the
advantages of metal platemaking – such as easier press operation, durability, reusability and accurate registration.
Presstek Momentum Pro
Presstek continues to enhance its product offerings and will demonstrate its Presstek Momentum Pro Integrated
PDF Workflow system at drupa. Building on its Momentum RIP (raster image processor), Presstek's Momentum
Pro is a fully-integrated RIP and workflow solution designed to streamline and automate the production process
using certified PDF tools. The workflow can be used as a centralized PDF creation and preflight system,
ensuring consistent output to multiple devices for small to mid-size printers.
"The new Momentum Pro workflow is a simple, easy-to-use and affordable solution that provides versatile job
management with an easy user interface, streamlining the print production process," said John Flynn, workflow
marketing manager for Presstek. "The improved PDF capability of this addition to Presstek's product portfolio
gives printers the ability to control the workflow from the prepress workstation and increase productivity all in
one flexible workflow offering."
