Mondi Presents Innovative Biodegradable and Compostable Polymers
-based Release Liner Solutions at Labelexpo 2009
Mondi presents its innovative product portfolio of silicone-coated release liners for the label industry and a wide
range of newly developed functional coatings at this year’s Labelexpo in Brussels, Belgium from September 23 -
26, 2009.
In 2009 Mondi focuses on creating new solutions utilising functional coatings and biopolymers. "Consistent high-
quality of release liners adapted to specific manufacturing conditions is crucial to our customers. Mondi takes a
leading role in the development of biodegradable films and coated substrates and extends its Sustainex®
product range by a biodegradable and compostable polymerbased release liner - according to EN 13432 - ,"
said Carsten Lange, General Manager Release Liner Europe.
In addition to the existing films and extrusion coated products, this newly developed release liner offers additional
beneficial solutions for the self-adhesive industry. Release liner play an important role during the self-adhesive
labelling process, because they protect the adhesive during production and back the label during printing and
die-cutting.
"Market-oriented and innovative industries, requiring special functionalities for their end products and applications
are always looking for new opportunities. With our functional coating products, we are able to offer custom-
tailored solutions," stated Thorsten Röttger, International Key Account Director & Segment Marketing Director.
By combining and processing materials, Mondi can produce various types of products according to the respective
requirements. Typical functionalities within the range are: fireproof coatings for buildings or other industries; anti-
slip properties for medical apparel, trays, packaging and building; antistatic conductives for electronics, clean
room applications, tapes; top coating for films to improve printability and/or adhesive anchorage and many more.
"Ongoing product and process development is essential for optimised quality. In close cooperation with its

Mondi Launches Cutting-edge Product Section on its Global Web Site
Mondi has today launched a new customer-focused section on its global web site, www.mondigroup.com.
The section has been created to make it easier for customers to find dedicated solutions to their needs across
the breadth of Mondi’s portfolio. The date of the launch coincides with Mondi’s presence at the 2009
Paperworld trade show in Frankfurt, Germany at which Mondi is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its leading
office paper, Color Copy.
In addition to innovative user-friendly functionalities, the new section includes brand new products, such as
the RFID-enabled Intelligent Box, and new services, such as The Mondi Academy seminars. These seminars
provide an opportunity to learn more about Mondi’s technical core competencies as well as acting as an ideal
platform for interactive knowledge-sharing.
New functionalities
The newly created ‘Served Industries’ pages include dedicated solutions for more than 50 distinctive customer
applications, offering several alternative and complementary product solutions to best meet customer requirements.
Industries include: automotive, chemical, building and construction, food, industrial paper and packaging, office
and printing, pet food, photographic and graphic, toiletries and hygiene and medical. Using easy to follow
navigational icons, visitors can quickly get to the areas that interest them the most.
The ‘Sustainable Solutions’ pages offer a new perspective on Mondi’s sustainable portfolio. With easy to use
navigation, products can be quickly searched for according to their recyclability, biodegradability, raw material
optimisation or their composition from renewable, recyclable or certified materials.
New content
The remodelled product pages provide visitors at first glance with a short description, highlighting the main
benefits. For more detailed information, user-friendly tabs make content ranging from specifications to applications,
and from certifications to related services and products easily accessible. Product brochures are also available
for download. In addition, case studies have been created to showcase the tangible benefits of some of Mondi’s
most outstanding product solutions, for example the ONE Bag.
New products
Other highlights are multiple new product pages, including amongst others: Effusion Bag: Industrial bag enabling
better dose of the filled good via a funnel-formed effusion opening. RFID intelligent box: RFID-enabled
corrugated case equipped with an RFID tag at case-level, enabling it to be traced throughout the entire
supply chain; Medical Kraft Paper: Specially developed Kraft Paper for sterile medical device packaging
purposes, it is recommended for direct sealing processes for pouches and reels; Single Lip Top Slider:
Innovative packaging solution featuring an innovative design for the emptying area which consists of only two
layers and an integrated reclosable system; Sanocoat: Anti-microbial packaging solution for the prevention of
germ growth allowing hygiene maintenance, significant bacteria reduction (E.coli, S.aureus), odour control,
increased shelf life and product freshness
New services
In the newly created service section, visitors can learn about Mondi’s expertise and offerings in terms of
innovation, supply chain optimisation and printing. A new highlight is the accessibility of The Mondi Academy
seminars for business partners and customers.

Mondi Presents the First Tape Innovation Days Conference
Jülich, February 29, 2008 - The Tape Innovation Days, from May 28 to 29, 2008, in Maastricht, is a new,
unique industry conference for self-adhesive tape manufacturers. It will be hosted by Mondi Coating & Release,
one of the leading and innovative suppliers of siliconised release liners to the tapes industry.
The conference is specifically designed as a forum for self-adhesive tape manufacturers. It brings together
suppliers and converters in the tape market to exchange the latest technical developments and to exchange
ideas. Speakers from BASF, Maschinenfabrik Max Kroenert, Toray, the German Adhesives Association and
Mondi will present their current and future product and service solutions for the tape industry.
The conference programme will start on May 28 - the afternoon before the opening of the DRUPA show in
Düsseldorf. Additionally, there will be a plant visit to one of Mondi’s Release Liner plants on May 29.
